The Right Is About to Learn A Hard Lesson In Diversity

As we prepare to turn the Gregorian calendar into a new year, the political Left learned some tough lessons in 2024. For one, most Americans do not view Donald Trump as an evil dictator. No matter how hard you try, you cannot shove LGBTQism down everyone's throat. And calling anyone you disagree with a racist, misogynist, homophobe, transphobe, coon, bootlicker, or weird is not an effective way to win hearts and minds. Perhaps the biggest lesson leftists learned is that diversity, for diversity's sake, doesn't work.

Shoe-horning people into positions they are unqualified for because of their skin color, gender, or who they choose to sleep with is a recipe for repudiation. Americans rejected Kamala Harris, not because she is an Indian woman, but because she is woefully unqualified to be President.

As the new Trump coalition moves forward, the political Right will also learn some tough lessons about diversity. Diversity, for election's sake, will not work.

Over the Christmas weekend, Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, the duo about to head the Department of Government Efficiency when Trump retakes The White House next month, sparked a huge debate over X about H-1B work visas in the tech industry. H-1B visas allow U.S. employers to hire foreign workers in specialized occupations that typically require advanced degrees or training.

Waters on this subject become murky when you consider Trump's promised crackdown on immigration. Musk believes America should bring in "via legal immigration the top ~0.1% of engineering talent as being essential for America to keep winning." Ramaswamy thinks the country must bring in more foreign talent because "Our American culture has venerated mediocrity over excellence for way too long."

Nearly every major media personality right of center chimed in, taking every position imaginable: Elon is correct, and Vivek is wrong; Vivek is correct, and Elon is wrong; they're both wrong; they're both correct. YouTube commentator An0maly (pronounced anomaly) strained his shoulder, patting himself on the back, accusing Vivek of being a "Big Pharma shill.” Blaze Media contributor Delano Squires took a moment to do exactly what the Left does: exacerbate race. Squires accused Vivek's white critics of "right fragility."

One X user even suggested Vivek should be behind bars.

Frankly, the H-1B/Elon/Vivek debate has been overblown because of the slow Christmas news cycle. There's not a lot to talk about. Remember this time last year, the hot debate on the Right was about conservative women posing in calendars.

At its core, the H-1B debate is about immigration. America needs less immigration across the board and the removal of anyone who is here illegally. Most Americans agree. Many of the other issues stemming from immigration will be easier to solve.

However, the core issue of why the debate has so many on the Right butting heads is because of diversity.

Republicans went all in on trying to swoon voters from all over the spectrum. And it worked: 1 in 5 black men, 46% of Hispanics, 45% of women, 47% of people under the age of 45, 13% who identify as LGBT, and roughly 90% of Amish people in the swing state of Pennsylvania voted for Trump. Some of the best exit polling from a Republican in decades. The upside is we won a crucial election. The downside? Internal squabbles might distract from the task at hand: making America great again.

Diversity as a national virtue is a modern concept. Historically, citizens and world leaders understood that diversity often led to conflicts, strife, collapsed empires, and the death of millions. It's why the military preaches unity and sameness: everyone wears the same uniform with roughly the same haircut, speaks the same language and lingo, does the same drills, eats the same food, wakes up at the same time, and sleeps at the same time. All pulling towards the same goal. Protecting their country.

"Diversity Is Our Strength" is a hollow abstract quote. It looks good on a bumper sticker or the back of an NFL player's helmet. But it's meaningless. The root word of diversity is diverse, which means not alike. You can’t build or maintain anything great without a unifying message. Kendrick Lamar's song "Not Like Us" has become the de facto national anthem.

At best, diversity is a neutral feature. There is a good argument to be made about diversity in some cases. Sometimes, two heads analyzing a problem from multiple views can produce good fruit. But more often than not, it is a liability.

Our modern false prophets of diversity—whether through multiculturalism, critical race theory, or DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion)—rarely emphasize unity. Unity irritates them. There's not enough money and power to be gained from unity.

Take social media influencers, for example. The marketplace for economists discussing finance is crowded. Market yourself as a black economist; now, Boyce Watkins has a DEI lane to gain followers. Can't hack it as an intellectual? Become an expert in "anti-racism." Now Ibram Rogers can swindle simpletons for millions. Marxists have been instigating division for political power for centuries. Manufactured conflicts nixed the Occupy Wall Street and Tea Party movements. Class warfare caused friction between Jews and Arabs in the 1930s and 40s. Diversity is why we have so many denominations of Christianity.

Right now, MAGA needs more unity than diversity. We need sameness in ideals and love for country. Sameness in faith and future vision for America.

Donald Trump and the MAGA movement are a threat to upend the corporate bureaucratic status quo in America. The corrupted powers that be tried to smear Trump's name and reputation, drain his wealth via frivolous lawsuits, put him in jail, and put a bullet in his head. State-run media and leftist politicians tried to smear Trump supporters as deplorable, stupid, weird, or whatever other adolescent insults they could conjure up. They might leverage MAGA’s diversity to tear the movement apart from the inside out.

With all the new voters coming to the Right will come many grifters and other agents of chaos. MAGA won the battle. Hopefully, diversity doesn't cost us the war.
