Think Like A Critic
The world often pressures us to conform to conventional “wisdom,” telling us what to think, how to act, and when to shut up. Have we ever stopped to think about what conventional “wisdom” really is or who determines it? Is it determined by the timeless Word of God, or by faceless committees at think tanks and boardrooms? Why is the status quo so widely accepted and seldom questioned? Why does criticism of any kind make you a heretic? Why is “Why?” such an offensive question?
This is where Critic At Extra Large comes in. To think like a critic does not mean throwing stones at anyone you disagree with. It’s weighing facts, seeing through spin and propaganda, analyzing multiple sides of an argument, and turning on your critical eye—not just on the world, but on yourself.
Here, politics and pop culture are discussed from a mature, big picture, Christian perspective. Far too often, Christians are afraid to engage the culture with biblical conviction. Many would rather bury their heads in the sand. We do so at our own peril. God calls on us to lead others to Christ. Some lead by preaching, others by song and dance. I’ve been called to write.
Leave your egos, affirmation, clutched pearls, and participation trophies at the door. Bring your minds, hearts, some common sense, a sense of humor, and a healthy dose of grace and truth.
Welcome to Critic At Extra Large.
