Taylor Swift is the President of the United States of Entertainment
Why does Taylor Swift have better security than Donald Trump?
The answer is simple. America values entertainment and celebrities to its own detriment.
The Vienna leg of Taylor Swift's worldwide Eras Tour was canceled due to threats of terrorism. Austrian authorities arrested two suspects alleged to have plotted a potential attack at one of Swift's concerts. According to ABC News, U.S. intelligence informed Austria of the threat.
Meanwhile, in Butler, Pennslyvania, President Trump nearly had a bullet go through his head in a failed assassination attempt a few weeks ago. Since then, we now know his team was denied more security from the government, there were substantial logistical errors at the event, and the FBI lied about the errors while peddling conspiracy theories, alleging Trump was hit by shrapnel. We still don't know much about the shooter other than his name, his voter registration, and to which party he donated money.
Many are not even remotely interested in finding the answers. The failed assassination attempt on Trump dominated the news cycle for a few days. Then, the news media pivoted, and like a spoon tap on a teacup, the media ignored it. All of the conversation went to Joe Biden, the Olympics, the WNBA, and Taylor Swift. It feels like the most significant event on American soil since 9/11 has been forgotten.
According to political activist and Turning Point founder Charlie Kirk, who hosted Trump at a Turning Point Faith conference days later, Trump's security detail has not improved since the incident.
How is this possible? How does Taylor Swift seem to have a more competent group of protectors around her than Donald Trump? Why does the U.S. government seem more intent to protect a woman who sings and dances than a former (and potentially future) world leader? Why does it appear that most people do not care?
Some conservatives and left-wing populists will wax on about corruption, which is partly true. Others will say it is a result of incompetence. Also, partly true. Another piece to the answer is the values of American society.
We value entertainment and honor entertainers the way we should value Scripture and honor Jesus Christ. Avoiding idol worship is a consistent theme throughout the Bible because our Lord and Savior knows how hard our hearts are and how stiff our necks are. We can and have made idols out of food, sex, money, animals, nature, ourselves, and celebrities.
Idol worship is illogical. It's why liberals call for prison and gun reform while continuing to glorify gangster rappers. It explains how people know how many medals Simone Biles has won in the Olympics, but they don't know their credit score or the mayor of the city they live in. It's how conservatives are comfortable with American pride but not gay or trans pride. All pride is sinful.
What we idolize at an individual level is what we receive nationally. Idolatry laid the foundation on which Operation Mockingbird was built.
Operation Mockingbird was and still is an astounding success. It is a CIA operation that manipulates the media to sell lies and propaganda to citizens, similar to how the Soviets indoctrinated their citizens. Carl Bernstein, a Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist, detailed extensively the relationship between intelligence agencies and the media. There is no evidence that Mockingbird has been discontinued, and there is no evidence that it will be discontinued in the future.
Operation Mockingbird is why the media, politicians, and institutions are so comfortable lying to us.
This insane level of celebrity worship is dangerous—not because there might be another attempt made on Trump or any politician's life, but because idolatry obscures the truth. Self-idolatry convinces us that we are not overweight or do not need to humble ourselves. Idolatry of animals has people calling their pet dogs and cats their children. Idolatry of celebrities had many people wearing masks and bubble suits and injecting themselves with some medical voodoo juice.
In today's entertainment-obsessed culture, Taylor Swift has better security than Trump because she is more important—more important than the sick, the elderly, policymakers, schoolchildren, and children in the womb. Far more important than the American working class.
The Swifties elected Taylor as President of the United States of Entertainment. Travis Kelce is the first husband of USE. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is her Vice President. Meg Thee Stallion is her Chief of Staff. Kim Kardashian is the Treasury Secretary. Cardi B is the Press Secretary. Kendrick Lamar is the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.
Maybe (Kan)Ye can crash her inauguration speech.
