4 Things This Monday: Why Chelsea Handler's Racism Matters, More Black Children Will Fall Behind, "Free" Education, Drake Is Kinda White

Chelsea Handler [is] just telling 50 how she really feels

Get off her “gator” and let her say what she has to say just like everyone else gets to be bold and say what is on their mind.

Double standard….

Thanks,

1) Chelsea Handler should not get a pass for her racist remarks, but she will...

The actress, author and not-funny comedian felt some kind of way when her ex-boyfriend 50 Cent lent his support for President Trump. When Fif opposed Vice President Biden’s proposed tax hikes on the upper class, Handler responded with

She later doubled down on her position and offered Curtis Jackson another ride on the Ferris wheel if he changed his tune:

Have you seen 50’s current girlfriend?

Yeah, I’d pass on Handler, but her comments were rather appalling. For starters, have White liberals become so emboldened that they feel they can tell people of other races how to vote? Black men (and Black people overall) are a very talented, smart, educated, and savvy bunch. We do not need limousine liberals like Handler telling us how to vote because of HER perception of Black people or opinions of Trump. (While we’re at it, we do not need Joe Biden telling us how to vote because of our skin pigment.) So Handler can save her virtue signaling for another group of suckers.

Then, she offered him sex. This speaks volumes about the perception of Black men in modern America. Many feel that we can be controlled by not just sex, but the promise of it. A Black man’s lust for sexual exploits runs deep. Kendrick Lamar alluded to this in his 2016 track “untitled 03”. The song portrays an Asian, Indian and a Black man telling Kendrick what makes them fulfilled in their lives. The Asian man said it is “peace of mind” and his belief in Buddha. The Indian man said it is a piece of land. He wants to build his legacy through property and create generational wealth. Here is the depiction of the Black man:

(Now what the black man say?)

A piece of pussy

That's what the black man said, I needed to push me

To the limit, satisfy my hunger

We do it all for a woman, from hair cut to a wool

We like to live in the jungle, like to play in the peach

What you saying to me?

He said "nigga, come back to reality for a week"

Pussy is power, fuck on a new bitch every night

I wouldn't be prouder, you should allow it

Chelsea Handler implicitly tried to use this line of thinking to influence 50 Cent. This should not be swept under the rug, but, with everyone laser-focused on the upcoming election, it probably will.

2) Online schooling will hurt Black children the most

The Chicago Teacher’s Union is citing coronavirus concerns as to why they are opposed to returning to an in-person learning structure. A great study out of Brown University shows that children returning to school does not put teachers or kids at risk for contracting COVID.

From The Wall Street Journal:

A group of researchers, spearheaded by Brown University Professor Emily Oster, have created and made available the most comprehensive database on schools and Covid case rates for students and staff since the pandemic started,” the outlet noted in an opinion piece. “Her data—covering almost 200,000 kids across 47 states from the last two weeks of September—showed a Covid-19 case rate of 0.13% among students and 0.24% among staff. That’s a shockingly and wonderfully low number. By comparison, the current overall U.S. case rate is 2.6%, an order of magnitude higher.

The continued lockdowns of schools will prove more harmful to Black children. Some studies suggest that Black kids perform up to 75 points lower on standardized testing than their White counterparts. There are already many diversity gaps in the education system, as explained by Christina Samuels of Education Week. The fear of the coronavirus, despite evidence otherwise, will only create a larger gap. A significant and often-overlooked part of the educational process is interacting with teachers and other students in real-life, not over a computer screen. Many Zoomers already have issues connecting with others socially. E-Learning exacerbates the problem. Also, as many college students learn, E-Learning takes a great deal of self-motivation. In many instances, the student is left to their own devices to learn and comprehend the material being introduced. A young student may not be equipped for such a tall task that early in their educational career.

In another 10 years, we might see a wider gap between Black and White students.

3) A vote for “free” education

In his 60 Minutes interview on Sunday, presidential nominee Joe Biden said that his administration wants to send “every single qualified person” to college, pending “significant institutional changes”:

“I can send every single qualified person to a four-year college in their state for $150 billion,” Biden said. “I can make sure every single person who qualifies for community college can go and we still have a lotta money left over. That’s what I mean by significant institutional changes.”

In a voice-over on the same 60 Minutes episode, CBS reporter Norah O’Donnell said, “After our interview, Mr. Biden’s staff told us he misspoke, and that the cost of free public college could be twice as much as he said.”

So, $300 billion on top of the over $27 trillion in U.S. debt already? Also, consider that the average working-class American is over $10,000 in debt. Sure, let’s add some more debt so Anna can go to Captain Crunch College or UMN (University of the Middle of Nowhere) for free for 4 years.

In all seriousness, our national debt is a SERIOUS problem.

4) Why do White people love raisins?

On Friday October 23, Drake celebrated his 34th birthday. It seems like yesterday a young Drizzy was releasing mixtapes trying to get his big break in the music industry. Now he is a 34-year-old veteran. Anyway, he held a private birthday party in Los Angeles. The menu at the party was boujee as hell, but that was to be expected. What I did not expect was to see Mac and Cheese with raisins in it:

I’d be a hypocrite if I said I did not enjoy raisins myself. Oatmeal raisin cookies are awesome. Raisins by themselves are not a bad snacking option. Yogurt covered raisins are passable. But raisins in potato salad? Raisins on a pizza? Raisins on top of a cake? Unacceptable. Do better White folks.

Let me stop bashing White people’s food choices. I might get labeled a racist like Chelsea Handler.
