Milk Crate Challenge Mirrors American's Thirst For Destruction
Admittedly, I have spent a little too much time recently watching videos of the latest social media craze, the Milk Crate Challenge. It can be described as a low-budget version of American Ninja Warrior.
Milk crates made of hard plastic are stacked in a pyramid-like fashion. A person has to walk along the top of the structure, from end to end. Most people start to falter near the middle when the crates are stacked the highest. In most of the videos I've seen, the challenger theatrically tries to keep their balance. They wiggle, shake, flail their arms around, lose their balance, and then crash to the ground within a heap of crates.
The Black Wall Street Times writes, "The Milk Crate Challenge popped up at a time when tensions in our country remain at an all-time high. Between pleas for people to get vaccinated and the chaos happening in Afghanistan, our country has had a stressful past few weeks. The #MilkCrateChallenge has helped distract people, even if for a brief moment, and bring temporary happiness and laughter to viewers." I'd be lying if I said I didn't find this mildly entertaining. But, as childishly captivating as this is, the Milk Crate Challenge symbolically represents how Americans enthusiastically walk down the road leading to our own destruction.
Americans have a thirst for disaster and chaos. It's in our blood. Some of us willingly chase tornadoes, wrestle with alligators, or do a host of dimwitted things that could seriously harm us, or worse. Perhaps this is why Americans are not only allowing but applauding the complete demise of our country as we know it. Our thirst for chaos and appetites for destruction knows no bounds.
Thanks to COVID, the exploitation of COVID, and awful decision-making, the American economy is collapsing. As a result, we are witnessing skyrocketing inflation rates. Certain politicians and media pundits will use flowery language and call our current inflation "temporary" or "transitory." Unfortunately, there is nothing "temporary" about the inflation we are seeing. The country is nearly $30 trillion in debt, our deficit spending is at record highs, and Congress keeps spending more money. Permanent hyperinflation is hitting working-class business owners the hardest. Mom and pop restaurants and store chains are shutting down operations as corporate store chains flourish. Target made over $90 billion in revenue last year. Instead of having a bit of sympathy for people who poured their lives into their businesses, some Twitter users say, "If you can't afford to pay your employees $15 an hour, then you don't deserve to have a business." These political progressives are willing to see an entire economic system collapse just so they can prove a point.
Speaking of COVID, our authoritarian leadership will stop at nothing to ensure every person has been injected. Every day, more of our God-given rights are being trampled on in the name of "public safety."
Australia has become a modern-day prison state. The country's military is being deployed to ensure citizens in Sydney remain compliant with stay-at-home orders. Fines, equivalent to 3700 USD, are also being used as a deterrent.
These heavy-handed methods are slowly spreading in the United States. For example, New York, California, and Illinois have some of the country's most strict vaccine and mask mandates. Failure to comply will lead to being outcasted from society. No joke. No hyperbole. You will not be able to shop, eat out at restaurants, work, go to school, or attend sporting events without getting the COVID shot. These mandates are a figurative wrecking ball to the free society we have known and loved for so long. Yet, people cheer on the destruction. They say anyone who does not want to be vaccinated is selfish. Oh, the irony! The selfish people are the ones who want to force experimental medication on everyone.
In every one of the milk crate challenge videos, when a person crashes to the ground in agony, nobody seemingly helps out. Instead, everyone "ooooooo"s and "ahhhhhhh"s and pulls out their phone to capture the moment. Many people today are not willing to offer a helping hand.
Look at my hometown of Chicago. This past weekend there were 44 people shot and 7 fatalities. At the time of this article, there have been 512 murders in Chicago this year. Many are alleged to be gang-related. I say alleged because the majority of the shootings remain unsolved. The No Snitching culture has done irreparable damage to Chicago's black and brown neighborhoods. Chicago has one of the lowest homicide clearance rates, which is the percentage of homicide investigations that end in an arrest, in the country. In 2016, the city's homicide clearance rate hovered around 29%. After an improvised 2019 (50.3%), the percentage dipped (44.5%) in 2020. Black people will harass black conservatives, verbally and/or physically abuse police officers (including the killing of CPD officer Ella French), but will remain silent when gangs and thugs shoot up the streets like the Wild Wild West.
A New York Post headline reads, "TikTok Milk Crate Challenge is the latest way to hurt yourself." That is precisely what people sometimes do, hurt themselves. And for no good reason. There is no damn reason to try to walk up a stack of milk crates. Even if a person successfully completes the challenge, like this woman from Houston who did so in heels, what was the purpose?
What is the purpose of supporting an economic collapse in the country where you live? Why would you continue to support gang violence in the neighborhood where you live?
Americans who support the fall of America are as dimwitted as the people trying to walk across a pyramid of milk crates. It could leave us and our country permanently damaged.
